Four years later and Susan is now a fully qualified Care Assistant and loves what she does.

When Alison first met Susan, she was a timid young girl who lacked confidence. Her parents were keen for her to join the Army but Susan knew this wasn’t for her.

At first they met weekly to talk through Susan’s interests and what she liked to do. “I knew it was important to gain Susan’s trust and really get to know her. We discovered she liked painting and decorating and she decided to enroll on a programme to learn the trade. Susan was so shy that at the start of the course I went along with her while she built her confidence and made new friends.”

They continued to meet and work on Susan’s self-esteem issues when Susan mentioned how much she loved helping out her Gran and working with the elderly. A spark was lit and Alison contacted some Health & Social Care training providers to discover that a local residential care home was looking for an apprentice. Following some interview preparation, Susan went for the interview and got the job. Four years later and Susan is now a fully qualified Care Assistant and loves what she does.
